Monday Mania #2: A Poem

“I Ask Percy How to Live My Life”

by Mary Oliver

Love, love, love says Percy

And run as fast as you can

Along the shining beach, or ruble, or the dust.

Then go to sleep.

Give up your body heat, your beating heart.

Then trust.

I love this poem. Mary Oliver wrote this about her dog Percy. Its a good reminder that the simple things in life are often the best.

Pets can often be reminders of how the little things in life can be fun. Below you can see a picture of my dog, Buddy, just hanging out. He is often a source of unexpected joy and that joy can turn my whole day around.

My dog deminstrating how to relax

Don’t let life overwhelm you. Take a breather every day. Even if its something as simple as sitting down to drink your coffee in the morning.

I was a bibliophile before I learned the alphabet. From an early age I have used books to relieve the pressures of reality. I was I teenager before I appreciated the learning power of books. Now, as an adult, I read books for both learning and relaxation.
